Central Biobank UMC Utrecht

The CBB (Central Biobank) of the UMC Utrecht hosts the collections coming from UMC researchers. It provides, next to storage, registration and management of samples, services for PBMC isolation using the Ficoll technique. Other procedures related to sample processing are performed by CBB preferred partners.

Requirements to study results (access etc.): The CBB complies with all national laws and regulations. Furthermore, the UMC’s board of directors has formulated a regulation framework that defines the conditions under which samples and data from patients may be stored for biobank studies and when and how material can be retrieved from the CBB. The TCBio (toetsing commissie biobanken) reviews all requests for starting or amending collections and retrieving material from the collection to ensure that the requests are in line with patients’ rights and their consent.
