The framework and procedures for accessing health registries are mostly regulated by the individual health registries. As such, there is limited regulation on a national or federal level. The main overarching regulation is the European GDPR (see page 8). The lack of national regulation and the diversity in procedures makes compliance to the GDPR requirements sometimes difficult to ascertain.
